Do you remember the slim and beautiful dancer Latika of Academy Award winning movie Slumdog Millionaire released in 2008? The character of Latika was played by Tanvi Lonkar who has received the 15th Screen Actors Guild Award for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture’.
Tanvi is from Mumbai and stays with her parents and a sister. Her father, Ganesh works with Union Bank of India while her mother Sharmila is a technician in Hinduja hospital.
Tanvi’s uncle encouraged her to go for auditions for Slumdog Millionaire, however the scene that she originally gave audition for was removed from the script but when Tanvi’s uncle told Loveleen Tandan (co-producer of Slumdog Millionaire) about Tanvi’s dancing skills, she asked him to send her for the audition of Latika’s role. Her dancing ability played an important role in getting her the role of Latika.
It’s been years since the movie was released and with time, the girl too has grown up! But do you have any idea how does Tanvi look now? We bet once you get a glimpse of that beautiful dancer, you will crave to see more of her!
