This was the most fatal mistake committed by a passenger at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Airport. Officials spotted an Air India passenger travelling on the luggage conveyor belt on Friday around 1am.
What was more strange is that the man, named Rajkumar Yadav, had already traveled around 200 meters and passed through an X-ray machine before airport staff stopped him.
He was all set for entering the 2nd level of scanning system where luggage is automatically sorted. If he would have entered there, he might have lost his life. This all happened in spite of so many CCTV cameras being installed and staff being present there for checking the baggage.
Airport officials stated that around 1am on Friday, Rajkumar Yadav who was set for traveling by Air India Flight AI 925 to Riyadh was noticed at conveyor belt number 07 at level 1.
He was noticed by an employee responsible for in-line baggage system and conveyor belts after he crossed the X-ray machine. No staff of DIAL or check-in counter noticed him. Later with the help of CISF, he was handed over to the police. For airport authorities, it was a ‘stray incident’.
As per reports, Yadav was a 1st time air-traveler and he got quite confused after he was directed by the staff to the check-in counter. After some interrogation by the airport security, he was allowed to board the next flight to Riyadh.
