It may come to you as something strange and bizarre that a woman was denied boarding IndiGo airlines in view of the fact that she put on a short dress which was objectionable on the part of staff members who saw her attire as ‘inappropriate’. Even more amazingly, the lady is airline’s former staff plus her sister is an employee of IndiGo.
According to a Qatar airlines female passenger who accompanied the lady, “Nobody raised any objection at the Doha airport. She was not indecently dressed. She was wearing a frock that ended above her knee.” However, the airline permitted her for boarding the next flight when she changed her dress.
To quote what IndiGo has to say in this connection, “We regret that an IndiGo passenger (who happens to be an ex IndiGo employee and a family member of a current employee) experienced an untoward behaviour at the Mumbai airport. As per the guidelines outlined, employees and the nominated family members are required to maintain a specific dress code, as and when they fly with the airline under the staff leisure travel privileges. Keeping in mind this policy, the Mumbai ground staff followed the protocol to brief this passenger on the dress code policy.”
