The concept of ‘Fake Advertising’ isn’t new. Often, we come across ads that promise something, but deliver something else. Take for example Lays; the pack shown in ads is filled with chips, but in reality it is filled with air, don’t you agree?
We always let go such things, but not all people think the same. This resident of New York, Anna Wurtzburger (64) took strict action against KFC, who she believes is involved in wrong depiction of ads. Yes, she accused KFC of ‘False advertising’ of products and filed a lawsuit against the brand.
She purchased a chicken bucket from KFC and was shocked to see it ‘Half-empty’ with small chicken pieces. Without waiting a moment, she immediately called up the Georgia headquarters to complain about the same.
She complained that brand portrays the chicken very prominently in the ad and also said that it claims to feed the whole family. If you have watched the ad, you must have seen how they show a filled bucket overflowing with chicken.
She was frustrated when she got just half of that. The 64 year old widow says that this half-filled bucket doesn’t feed the whole family.
Wurtzburger says “If you want the public to look at your chicken, put it in a dish. It’s a lot of BS. … I expect to get what you’re telling me,”
Action taken!
Wurtzburger got too annoyed with this incident and with the help of a lawyer, she filed a lawsuit against KFC. The bucket cost was just $20, but you will be shocked to hear the amount she wants as compensation! Any guesses? Well, it is a whopping $20 million. As a compensation, KFC offered 2 gift certificates to her but she refused to accept them. As of now, nothing can be said, as KFC has termed this allegation as ‘Baseless’.
