Nawazuddin Siddiqui is undoubtedly one of the most talented actors of the present times but before carving a name for himself in Bollywood, he endured years of struggle, including an early setback while working on Kamal Haasan’s “Hey Ram”.
Not only was he assisting as a director on the film but he had also landed a small but meaningful role. However, just before the movie’s premiere, he was devastated to learn that his scene had been cut.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui had excitedly invited several friends to the screening, eager to watch himself on the big screen alongside his idol. Moments before the film began, Kamal Haasan personally informed him that his part had been removed. Nawaz was devastated upon hearing this as he said to Kamal Haasan that he would be insulted badly.
Overcome with disappointment, he found himself in tears as he broke the news to his friends, leaving them the choice of staying or leaving. Despite his heartbreak, they chose to watch the film, standing by his side. Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruti Haasan even consoled him in that moment of distress.
Reflecting on Nawazuddin’s journey, Kamal Haasan later praised him, recalling that even then, his acting abilities were remarkable. He acknowledged that the decision to cut the scene was purely due to footage constraints, not a reflection of Nawazuddin’s talent. What seemed like a major disappointment at the time ultimately became just another chapter in his inspiring story.
Years later, Nawazuddin Siddiqui emerged as one of the most respected actors in the industry, proving that perseverance and passion can turn even the most crushing setbacks into stepping stones for success.
