The next big tournament that every cricketing nation is waiting for is the Champions Trophy 2025 which is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan but there is a problem as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not willing to send the Indian team to Pakistan.
The BCCI has asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift its matches to Sri Lanka or Dubai just like it happened in the Asia Cup 2023 but this time, Pakistan is adamant on organizing all the matches in Pakistan. In fact, there are reports that Pakistan may boycott the T20 World Cup 2026 which is scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka if India doesn’t travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025.
Quite a few former Pakistani players have asked the Indian board to send team India to visit Pakistan as the Indian players especially Virat Kohli is loved by many Pakistani fans and he has a huge fan following over there.
Recently, former Pakistani cricketer Younis Khan requested the Indian team to visit Pakistan as it is the only thing left in the career of Virat Kohli. The Indian cricketer visited Pakistan when he was a part of the Under-19 team but he hasn’t visited Pakistan after he joined the senior team because the senior team last visited Pakistan in 2006, two years before Virat Kohli’s debut.
During the interview, Younis Khan said, “Virat Kohli should come to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy. It is our wish too. I think the only thing left in Virat’s career is to tour Pakistan and perform.”
A Pakistani sports content creator posted a video with the caption, “Younis Khan said, ‘Virat Kohli should come to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, it’s our wish too. I think the only thing left in Kohli’s career is to tour Pakistan and perform in Pakistan.’”

As per the reports, the PCB has scheduled all the matches of India in Lahore including a semi-final and final (if India qualifies).
Recently, an ICC meeting took place in Colombo in which the budget for the tournament was approved but there were no talks regarding the scheduling and format of the tournament. It is being reported that the BCCI and the PCB had no discussion regarding the tournament. In addition, it is also being said that now the Pakistan board has left the responsibility of persuading the Indian board to send team India to Pakistan on the ICC.
Will the Indian team visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025? What do you think?
