Venkatesh Iyer, the Indian cricketer who is currently playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024, played an important role in his team’s win in the first qualifier after which KKR has become the first finalist team of the tournament.
This is the fourth time that KKR has made it to the finals and they will certainly look forward to win the IPL trophy for the third time.
KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets and during the post-match presentation when Harsha Bhogle asked Venkatesh Iyer about the thinking, the confidence level which was behind that performance, he said, “More than the confidence I was really wanting to go out and bat, we last played a game on 11th, so we all were eager to go out and showcase our talent.”
Venkatesh Iyer who remained unbeaten on 51 runs praised the KKR bowlers as he said, “The wicket was really good, credit goes to our bowlers for bowling them out for 160 odd.”
He also talked about the momentum as KKR played their last match on 11th May because their next two matches got washed out. He said, “In a tournament like this, momentum is really important, we have seen that with RCB (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) winning their matches continuously and gaining the momentum even we wanted that momentum, so we wanted to go out and wanted the rain to stop but it was disappointing.”
Venkatesh Iyer was also grateful towards the owners Shah Rukh Khan and Jay Mehta as they both came to support the team. He said, “We were the table toppers and we have got a lot of support from the management, credit to the owners, SRK and Jay sir were also there tonight to support us.”
