Public did not come out of the shock of what happened with Dalit kids in Haryana and there came the statement of V K Singh, Union Minister, who has shaken the nation with a controversial comment, killing the feelings and emotions of not only Dalits but a number of people belonging to other casts.
According to him, govt isn’t responsible for the killing of two Dalit children who had been burnt alive. To quote his statement in this connection, “If someone throws stones at a dog, the government is not responsible.” He further stated, “Don’t connect the government with it. It was a feud between two families, the matter is under inquiry.”
No doubt, the way this comment was made, it was natural to spark controversy throughout the nation and the same happened. At one fell swoop, others also started commenting over the statement of V K Singh. In the words of Randeep Surjewala, Congress spokesman, “It is condemnable, it is shocking, it is inhumane to say the least.” He added, “It reflects the mindset of the Modi government which insults Dalits, which insults the minorities and looks down upon the people who are poor and downtrodden.”
Later, this tweet came from Singh:
My statement wasn't intended 2draw an analogy. My men & I put our lives on the line 4the nation irrespective of caste, creed & religion.(1/n)
