On one hand, we have Jio who is giving the best of offers to the customers without worrying about profits, and on the other hand, we have Idea, Vodafone and Airtel who are creating all possible hurdles for the company so that the benefits don’t reach customers. In short, we can say that they are jealous of Jio’s popularity and are making attempts to stop its lucrative schemes.
Recently, Jio announced its summer surprise offer, under which it offered a 15 day extension (31st March- 15th of April) to register for Prime and also announced complimentary services for 3 months, on a recharge of Rs 303 within that period (Till 15th of April).
Customers were super happy when they got to know that they will get to enjoy free calls and free internet (2 GB per day) till 30th of June, 2017; unfortunately, competitors have complained to the Telecom Regulatory Authority Of India against Jio’s “Summer Surprise Offer” because they just can’t digest it.
Now, the bad news is that TRAI has given its judgment in favor of those competitors and has asked Jio to withdraw its 15 day extension. Earlier, the last registration date for Prime membership was 15th of April, but now, the extension has been withdrawn and today i.e. 6th of April is the last day.
TRAI might also ask Jio to withdraw its 3 months complimentary offer, but as of now, the talks are going on and nothing is sure. Here’s the official statement of Jio;
Regulator advises Jio to withdraw 3 month complimentary offer Mumbai, 6th April 2017: On 31st of March, Jio announced its JIO SUMMER SURPRISE offer. Under JIO SUMMER SURPRISE, all JIO PRIME members making their first recharge payment of Rs 303 (or higher) plans got 3 months complimentary services in addition to the benefits of their purchased plan. Today, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has advised Jio to withdraw the 3 months complimentary benefits of JIO SUMMER SURPRISE. Jio accepts this decision. Jio is in the process of fully complying with the regulator’s advice, and will be withdrawing the 3 months complimentary benefits of JIO SUMMER SURPRISE as soon as operationally feasible, over the next few days. However, all customers who have subscribed to JIO SUMMER SURPRISE offer prior to its discontinuation will remain eligible for the offer.

Those who have already applied for the Prime membership will surely get the benefits of the Summer Surprise offer, but those who were thinking of registering for the same between 7th of April to 15th of April are at loss.
Idea, Vodafone and Airtel are playing bad games because they can’t afford to offer such cheap pricing plans to customers; they have an insecurity that their customers will switch to Jio, which is why they are trying such tactics. Is it wrong to think from the customer’s point of view? Did Jio do anything wrong that it has to suffer now?

This is seriously a black day in the Indian consumer history; instead of extending such good schemes to customers and benefiting them, other telecom operators are forcing the government to act against Jio and put an end to these benefits.
