Sunny Deol is one of the most loved actors of Bollywood and last year he made a grand comeback with “Gadar 2” which broke many records at the box-office. In his illustrious career, Sunny Deol has worked with many actresses and he has been linked with quite a few as well but it is being said that his most serious relationship was with actress Dimple Kapadia.
Actress Sujata Mehta who starred alongside Sunny Deol and Dimple Kapadia in the 1993 film “Gunaah” recently shared insights into the rumoured love story of the two actors. In a candid interview, Sujata Mehta revealed that Sunny Deol and Dimple Kapadia had a “lovely chemistry” and they were “destined to be together”.
While the two never publicly confirmed their relationship, their bond reportedly blossomed while working together in several films during the 1980s.
While talking about Sunny Deol and Dimple Kapadia, Sujata Mehta stated in the interview, “I did Gunaah with them. They had a lovely chemistry, and both of them were close to me. There was nothing to hide since we were working together. In our profession, I feel everything is very professional. Sab log apna kaam karte hai, nikalte hai. Gunaah ke set pe jab bhi hum log shoot pe gaye, they had a lovely chemistry on-screen and off-screen. They were destined to be together.”

During the same interview, Sujata Mehta also disclosed that she was originally cast as the lead actress in Rajesh Khanna’s film “Jai Jai Shiv Shankar”; however, she was later replaced by Dimple Kapadia. The decision was reportedly influenced by Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia’s children who wanted their parents to reunite following their separation. Despite the casting change, the film never saw a release.
Rumours of a relationship between Sunny Deol and Dimple Kapadia began in the 1980s when they worked together in films such as “Aag Ka Gola”, “Manzil Manzil” and “Narsimha”. Although they never publicly acknowledged their relationship, it is believed that they dated for over a decade. Even Sunny Deol’s ex-girlfriend, actress Amrita Singh, once confirmed that he was involved with Dimple.
Before her rumoured relationship with Sunny Deol, Dimple Kapadia was married to legendary actor Rajesh Khanna and the two separated in 1982. In a past interview, Dimple shared that her marriage was filled with unhappiness, inequality and infidelity. She referred to their marriage as a “farce”, revealing that their home lost its joy and happiness after their split.
