There is no denying the fact that school plays an important role in the development of a kid but sometimes we come across such incidents which leave us in a state of shock and compel us to believe that schools are no more a safe place for kids.
A school in Bengaluru, Orchid International School, has been criticised for allegedly locking students up over unpaid fees. This form of punishment has reportedly caused emotional and mental stress among the students, sparking outrage among their parents. Many are of the opinion that these kinds of actions could harm their children’s academic performance and overall well-being.

Parents claim that the school has threatened students with harsh consequences if they file complaints. Reports suggest that it is not the only incident and some other private schools in the city are also accused of similar actions. In some cases, students have reportedly been locked in dark rooms or libraries during school hours for not paying fees or for minor misbehaviour.
These allegations have led to formal complaints being submitted to the Education Department and the Child Safety & Protection Department. Parents are demanding strict action, including the revocation of licenses for schools involved in such practices. They argue these actions violate children’s rights and call for accountability from the institutions.
The Education Department has issued warnings to private schools, emphasising the harm such treatment can have on students’ mental health and academic growth. Parents have been urged to report such incidents to the police and officials have promised thorough investigations. If the allegations are proven true, the schools may lose their permits and face blacklisting.

A report by a news channel claims that six students were locked in a dark room for an entire day over unpaid fees in the last two weeks. Another news channel contacted Orchid International School for a statement. While the school denied the allegations and labeled them as baseless, they promised to facilitate communication with another branch in the city. However, no response has been received from them so far.
This is really disgusting, offensive, shameful and unacceptable if it’s true and a strong action should be taken against the schools practicing such inhuman behaviour with innocent kids who are actually not at all accountable for matters related to fee submission.
