At the 24th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in Abu Dhabi, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan humorously remarked that his contemporary Aamir Khan should not have worked in “Laal Singh Chaddha”. The film, an official adaptation of “Forrest Gump”, received mixed response at the box office after its release in the year 2022.
Shah Rukh, while on stage with actor Vicky Kaushal, jested that filmmakers often approach him first for their major projects, only to later offer them to other actors. When Vicky asked if “Laal Singh Chaddha”, directed by Advait Chandan, had also been offered to him, Shah Rukh quipped that even Aamir should not have done “Laal Singh Chaddha” but he soon said, “I love you Aamir” making it clear that whatever he said was in good spirits.
Despite initial struggles, “Laal Singh Chaddha” gained some viewership after being released on Netflix.
During the same conversation, Vicky Kaushal inquired whether “Pushpa: The Rise” was offered to Shah Rukh and the “Pathaan” actor responded humorously, expressing his disappointment that he missed out on the role. SRK said to Vicky Kaushal that he has touched something which still hurts him, he really wanted to do “Pushpa” but he lacked the swag of Allu Arjun and he left the crowd in splits with his sense of humour.
“Pushpa: The Rise” starring Allu Arjun was a 2021 pan-India blockbuster. Allu Arjun’s performance earned him a National Award and he is currently working on the highly anticipated sequel “Pushpa 2: The Rule” alongside Fahadh Faasil and Rashmika Mandanna.
SRK is certainly one of the best entertainers of the Indian film industry, agree?
