When the announcement of MSD’s ouster as Rising Pune Supergiants team was made, fans were highly disappointed. It brought in a wave of sadness and everyone demanded explanations. Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of the team, patiently explained why this decision was taken; although this didn’t go down well with majority of the fans, the explanation he gave was indeed logical.
According to reports, Sanjiv said that this time they wanted someone young to lead the team, because last time, the performance wasn’t good. Leading and revamping this season in a better way was the only intention of Goenka. Last year, when Dhoni led RPS, they won just 5 out of 14 matches and this might be the reason why the franchise wants to try some other option now.
Although all fans are very sad about Dhoni stepping down, there’s someone who is actually rejoicing. We are talking about none other than MSD’s buddy Virender Sehwag.
At a literary festival, SporTale, when reporter asked Viru Paaji to give his views on Dhoni stepping down, he expressed happiness over this, can you believe it? I am sure you want to know the reason too, isn’t it?
Well, the cricketer, who recently made the head of cricket operations of Kings XI Punjab said “I am happy that he isn’t captain because maybe now my team, Kings XI Punjab, can beat this Pune team.”
Sehwag just said this jokingly and didn’t mean the same; in fact, he said that Dhoni has been one of the best captains of Indian team.
Once again, a sensible but humorous reply from Sehwag! It is a fact that Dhoni was leading the team really well and now that he has stepped down as a skipper, other teams have a sigh of relief.
