Do you recognize this purple bird? You must have seen it on your Facebook page since last week and it seems that very soon, it will be used as much as the thumbs up icon of Facebook. However, there is no connection between these both.
This purple bird which is known as ‘trash dove’ is designed by an American artist Syd Weiler; Facebook liked this design and introduced it as a sticker. Syd, who is from Florida, designed this bird in September, 2016 and in January 2017, she drew a series of Facebook stickers of trash dove.
For some time, it was nowhere but later on, it was seen on the Thai Facebook page, dancing with a cat, and that was the time when it broke the Internet, getting 4 million views in just a week.
Syd responded with this message, “Hello Thailand, thank you all so so much for your support. I’m really glad that you like the stickers.”
However, there are some who are not happy with this bird and they have filed a petition to remove it. Syd wrote this on her timeline in Oct, 2016, “In case you didn’t know, I made some fantastically dumb iOS stickers; you can spam your friends and family with them!”
We know that people are angry but we hope that their anger will cool down soon and trash dove will be like any other sticker of the social networking site.
Won’t it be fun to send these stickers to your friends? How did you find the new stickers? Let us know your views about trash dove in the comments section below.
