Superstar Rajinikanth who is married to the love of his life Latha Rangachari for 36 years now had an interesting first meeting with her which made me propose her immediately.
Interview which sparked the fire
It was the year 1980 when Rajinikanth was shooting for a Tamil film Thillu Mullu which was the remake of 1979 Bollywood comedy film Golmaal.
Rajinikanth was supposed to give an interview for a college magazine. It was then he met the girl Latha Rangachari for the first time. Latha had come to interview him and it was a love at first sight for Rajinikanth.
Reportedly, Rajinikanth felt an instant connection with Latha as they shared a lot of common interests. Throughout the interview, Rajinikanth was thinking about her like he had never thought about anyone in his life. By the end of the interview, Rajinikanth proposed her. Latha also answered with a smile that he would need to talk to her parents regarding this.
Interestingly, in an interview with Sun TV in 2012, Latha told that “He did not propose to me, he informed me that he was marrying me and left.”
Marriage
It was not easy for Rajinikanth as he was really nervous about talking to Latha’s parents. The superstar took the help of his close friends and colleagues in the industry.
Fortunately, he discovered that his close friend and co-actor Y.G. Mahendran (the popular Tamil cinema comedian) happened to be the husband of Latha’s sister, Sudha. Some Tamil industry seniors also helped him by visiting Latha’s parents and seeking their permission for the Latha Rajinikanth Marriage.
To the immense pleasure of nervous Rajinikanth, the parents of Latha gave their node and finally on 26th Feb 1981, the two got married to each other at the famous Lord Balaji temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
Family
Rajinikanth and Latha were blessed with their first daughter Aishwarya in 1982 and Soundarya in 1984.
