Amjad Khan was certainly one of the most talented actors of all times and there is no denying the fact that he made the character of Gabbar Singh immortal with his amazing acting skills. Amjad Khan played Gabbar Singh in the movie “Sholay” which also starred Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar and others in important roles.
In his career of around two decades, Amjad Khan has worked in more than 130 movies and unfortunately the actor and his family had to face financial problems during the last stages of his life. Amjad Khan took his last breath in 1992 as he suffered a heart attack and the financial condition was so bad that they had problem in paying for medical treatment.
During an interview, Amjad Khan’s son Shadaab Khan said that there were producers who owed around Rs. 1.25 crores but after his father’s d*mise, they didn’t pay back. Shadaab said that the producers came to meet his father, used to tell him sob stories and even promised him the keys of their houses. Shadaab said that though his father saw through them, he never cared about money and he didn’t even keep money with bank or his friends. Shadaab said that not many people came to pay and only handful of those came to return money who had taken loan from his father.
He said that a gangster from middle-east called his mother, Shaila Khan and promised that he would pay the whole amount owned by the producers in just three days because Amjad Khan was a good man.
Shadaab said that his mother refused straightaway, saying that her husband would never have taken favors from the underworld. He added that it was his mother who brought their lives on track by entering the construction business and if she had not been strong at that time, they would have been on roads.
