Alibaba’s founder and executive chairman, Jack Ma became China’s richest man after a record of 2.5 billion dollars from an IPO was generated in September 2014 at the New York Stock Exchange.
However, Ma was quite happy when he wasn’t making such huge amounts of money, right after college. He graduated in the year 1988 and worked as a local university in Hangzhou as an English teacher. That time, he used to make only 12 dollars a month, as per ‘Crocodile in the Yangtze’, a documentary based on his life.
In a speech, Jack had mentioned that this was the ‘best life’ he had.
Why is Jack not happy when he is rich?
When one doesn’t have much money, he knows how it has to be spent, explained Ma. However, on becoming a billionaire, lot of responsibility comes in. He further adds that the money he has is his responsibility and people’s trust on him. Owing to this, the money has to be spent on behalf of society.
If there is more money, there are more troubles!
Earlier too, Jack had spoken about becoming a billionaire. While speaking at New York’s Clinton Global Initiative, he told that it was ‘fantastic’ when he was an English teacher. More troubles are invited when more money is earned, he says.
