The brutal m*rder of Meerut-based Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput has sent shockwaves across the country. The case took a disturbing turn as the accused, Saurabh’s wife Muskan Rastogi and her partner Sahil Shukla, were remanded to a 14-day judicial custody after confessing the crime.
As the investigation unfolds, Saurabh’s mother has now claimed that her five years old granddaughter may have witnessed the horrifying act.
In a conversation with reporters, she shared that neighbours informed them about the child making an unsettling statement regarding her father’s whereabouts. The little girl reportedly mentioned that her father had been kept inside the drum. Saurabh’s mother believes that the child might have seen something significant, leading her to make such a statement.
Recounting the grim sequence of events, Saurabh’s mother revealed that after the m*rder, Muskan went on a trip, leaving the body locked inside the room. The house owner had already asked them to vacate the premises. It was only when laborers attempted to move the drum that they got suspicious about it. When they struggled to lift it and inquired about its contents, Muskan allegedly dismissed it as household junk. However, when the lid accidentally came off, an unbearable stench filled the air, prompting them to inform the police. By the time authorities arrived, Muskan had already gone to her mother’s house.
Further accusations have surfaced against Muskan’s family. Saurabh’s mother alleged that Muskan’s mother was aware of the crime beforehand. She suggested that rather than reporting the incident, Muskan’s mother sought legal counsel and reached the court. Eventually, the police intervened and took Muskan’s family into custody for questioning.

Saurabh’s sister also spoke to the media, sharing how she learned about her brother’s m*rder. She recalled receiving a distressing call from their mother, urging her to come to the police station. Expressing her anguish, she alleged that Muskan had been involved in an extramarital affair and had previously disappeared for several days. She accused Muskan and Sahil of deceiving Saurabh and exploiting him for financial gain.

The tragic case began unfolding when Saurabh Rajput, a 29-year-old resident of Brahmpuri’s Indra Nagar Phase 2, was reported missing on March 4. The police launched an investigation, leading to the detention of Muskan and Sahil on March 18. Reports suggest that Muskan, with Sahil’s assistance, fatally stabbed her husband before chopping off his body and sealing the remains in a drum filled with cement.
With the accused now in custody, authorities continue their probe into the shocking crime, while Saurabh’s grieving family seeks justice for their unimaginable loss.
