In this article, we will delve into “7 Pakistani Dramas with strong female character” that inspire women to stand for their rights.
These women are not limited to their storyline with the male hero but go much beyond to show their own challenges and how they learn to become independent. Here are some strong female characters in Pakistani dramas who we found inspiring.
7 Pakistani Dramas With Strong Female Character:
1. Kashaf in Zindagi Gulzar Hai
It only seemed right to open this list with one of the most popular Pakistani dramas of all time. Based on the book by Umera Ahmad, this drama features a strong and ambitious character, Kashaf, who has decided to live independently and confidently face all the challenges life throws her way.
Kashaf’s personality is as inspiring as emotional since her character was developed through the difficult childhood she had to live with her mother and sisters because their father remarried when her mother could not give him a son. This sorrow of seeing her mother’s life filled with difficulties because she was a daughter made Kashaf a strong and confident lady who would try and make her way in a world dominated by men.
2. Aaliya in Kuch Ankahi
Kuch Ankahi shows another headstrong girl, Aaliya, played by Sajal Aly, who works in real estate and is the sole breadwinner in her family. She does not shy away from the men-dominated career she is a part of and proves herself repeatedly amongst her colleagues.
Kuch Ankahi also had another strong female character, Aaliya’s younger sister, Tania. She stood up against her college management when her friend was harassed and continued to fight against what was wrong, even when she was harassed on calls to not talk about the incident. Both characters are shown to be strong owing to the principles taught to them by their father, Agha Jaan.
3. Meerab in Tere Bin
Another strong female character was Meerab, played by Yumna Zaidi in the popular drama Tere Bin. Bold and decisive, Meerab could not see injustice around her and walked on her father’s path of fighting for what was right as an aspiring law student.
Meerab knew how to get her way done, but even beyond this, she was well aware of women’s rights and fought for the dignity of all kinds of women around her, whether her servant or a random lady she met on the road. Meerab also left her house after Murtasim apparently, misbehaved with her. She carried on to bring up their child by herself.
4. Shibra in Ishq Murshid
Quite similar to Meerub in standing up against the wrong, Shibra from Ishq Murshid has a softer side. Nevertheless, she is shown to be a strong female character who is unafraid to defy even a topmost politician or her husband. One of the scenes shows that she denied taking an award from Dawood because one of his cars had killed a poor man just before coming to the event. Played by Durefishan Saleem, Shibra is also shown to be guided by her father through his sincere morals.
5. Ajiya in Suno Chanda
A surprising addition for some, but Ajiya was much more beyond her funny and ridiculous day-to-day fights with Arsal. She was adamant about post-graduation from London, and even her marriage to Arsal could not stop her from achieving her dreams
Ambitious and ready to make sacrifices, Ajiya was shown to be a strong woman. However, she was also ready to compromise with her dreams for Arsal. Ajiya knew how to balance her personal and professional life.
6. Dua in Ehd-e-Wafa
Another ambitious girl who knew how to take care of her career and family, Dua’s character was truly inspiring as she became a doctor in the army while caring for her paralysed mother. Moreover, she did not talk to Saad before completing her studies, as she promised her father she wouldn’t let anything come between her and her studies. Dua was a reliable person who sure knew how to keep her promises.
7. Zubia in Yakeen ka Safar
A strong female character does not have to be bold right from the start. This was Zubia’s story. Initially, a timid girl who was harassed by her boyfriend, who lied to her about getting married to standing up against her brother for not speaking up for their mother, who was killed at the hands of their father in domestic abuse, Zubia’s character developed drastically making her a strong independent woman who left home and soon became a doctor.
