The tensions between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will increase again as the BCCI has refused to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 which will be hosted by Pakistan.
If you remember, originally the Asia Cup 2023 was also scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan but India didn’t budge from its position of not travelling to Pakistan and India’s matches were shifted to Sri Lanka.
In the present scenario, it is being said that the BCCI has asked the International Cricket Council to shift its matches to Dubai or Sri Lanka and as per some reports, the PCB has threatened to boycott the T20 World Cup 2026 which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka if India doesn’t travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025.
An ICC meeting is scheduled to take place in Colombo from 19 July to 22 July and it will be attended by the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Moreover, it is being said that the PCB will remain firm on its stand of not shifting any match of the Champions Trophy 2025 out of Pakistan and it will uphold its position of “Pakistan’s event in Pakistan”.
The PCB is sure that India’s position is pretty weak in this regard as all other teams which will take part in this 8-team tournament have visited Pakistan but if India still doesn’t agree to tour Pakistan, then Pakistan will boycott T20 World Cup 2026.
India last visited Pakistan in 2008 and if we talk about Pakistan then in the last 16 years it has visited India in 2012-13 for a bilateral series and then in 2016 (T20 World Cup) and 2023 (ODI World Cup).
What do you think, what will happen this time, will matches get shifted to Dubai or Champion Trophy 2025 will be played without India?
