Actor Naga Chaitanya has spoken out, defending his family and addressing recent allegations made by Telangana minister Konda Surekha, who linked his divorce from actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu to a political matter. The controversy started when Surekha claimed that BRS president KT Rama Rao (KTR) played a role in the couple’s separation.
Taking to social media, Chaitanya firmly denied the claims, calling them ‘ridiculous’ and clarifying the situation. In his statement, he directly addressed the minister, stating that the claims made by the minister are false, ridiculous and unacceptable. He emphasized that such allegations not only hurt the individuals involved but also encourage the public exploitation of celebrities’ personal lives for media attention.
Naga Chaitanya’s statement read, “The decision of divorce is easily one of the most painful and unfortunate life decisions one has to make. After a lot of thought, a mutual decision was made by me and my former spouse to part ways. It was a decision made in peace, owing to our different life goals and in the interest of moving forward with respect and dignity as two mature adults. There have been various baseless and completely ridiculous gossips on the matter so far. I have remained silent all this while out of deep respect for my earlier spouse as well as my family. Today, the claim made by Minister Konda Surekha Garu is not only false, it is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Women deserve to be supported and respected. Taking advantage and exploiting the personal life decisions of celebrities for the sake of media headlines is shameful.”

The controversy stems from Surekha’s claim that Samantha’s refusal to comply with a political favor requested by KTR led to her divorce from Naga Chaitanya. Surekha alleged that KTR asked Nagarjuna to send Samantha to him and in return, he would not demolish the N-Convention Centre; Nagarjuna forced Samantha but she refused because of which divorce took place. The statement, reported by a leading publication, has sparked widespread outrage and shock.
The N-Convention Centre, owned by Naga Chaitanya’s father Nagarjuna, was partially demolished by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) in August due to encroachment on lake buffer zones. Although Nagarjuna later obtained a stay order from the High Court, Konda Surekha’s controversial remarks have drawn unwanted attention to the situation.
Naga Chaitanya’s strong response adds to Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s earlier statement, in which she condemned the allegations. Both the actors have firmly rejected any connection between their personal matters and political issues.
