What if someone tells you that a guy has run away taking his mom’s jewelry? How would your reaction be? Wouldn’t you think that he is a bad son? Above that, if I tell you that there is also a guy, who has mortgaged his mom’s ornaments for watching Virat Kohli’s match, won’t you feel super-pissed?
Well, there is actually a guy like this who has a wild passion for Virat! He is mad for him and can do anything possible for watching his favorite star bat.
You got that right; meet Nikash Kanhar, a resident of Odisha who is a die-hard fan of Kohli. This 33 year old man mortgaged his mom’s jewelry without even thinking once; he just wanted to book flight tickets to Chandigarh, so that he can watch the 3rd Test match between England and India.
Nikash said “I took a loan against my mother’s jewelry I got Rs 25,000. I spent Rs 11,000 on booking air tickets from Bhubaneswar to Delhi and back.”
Aren’t you wondering as to how his mom must have reacted to this? Well, she knew that her son has done this silly thing and went mad at him.
Talking further about the reaction of his family, Nikash says
“There was an argument. But I convinced my mother. All she wants is a photo of Virat and I in the same frame. I don’t know how soon that is likely to happen. Where returning the money is concerned, dhekh lenge. Ma hi to hai(Let’s see how I can do it. It is mother’s money after all).”
About his dad’s (Vegetable vendor)reaction, he says “Woh bolte hain, par sunta kaun hai (he keeps cribbing, but who listens).”
Kanhar says “I am crazy for cricket since my childhood. I used to play also, but then I lost interest in playing… I turned a Virat fan after seeing him bat.”
He paints himself in the tricolor and waves the Indian flag every time Virat takes a run. Moreover, since last 3 years, he follows Kohli wherever he goes across India. Do you know who inspired him? Well, it was a Sachin Tendulkar fan, Sudhir Kumar Chaudhary. Now, Nikash has just 1 wish i.e. to be photographed with Kohli and follow him everywhere just like Sudhir.
Aren’t you interested to know how he manages things? Well, he works part time at a bus stand as ticket seller and this is how he earns some extra bucks. Even his friends help him a lot during matches.
