MS Dhoni is certainly one of the best skippers that the Indian team has ever had as he is the only skipper to have three ICC trophies – 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy and other than this, he is also the most successful skipper (jointly) in the IPL as Chennai Super Kings has won the tournament 5 times under his leadership.
The former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden who has also played under MS Dhoni’s captaincy in CSK recently talked about Mahi and said that MSD has the aura to lead Australia easily.
During the interview, Matthew Hayden states that Mahi can sit in Australia dressing room and easily captain them because he believes that he is not bigger than anyone else. Hayden further says that MS Dhoni is a humble individual who can also collect bags and throw balls, Dhoni works hard at the team and never promotes himself. Matthew Hayden goes on to say that MS Dhoni will never tell anyone how great he is or what his achievements are and this is his X-factor.
Matthew Hayden says that while others will think that Australia, a country of 25 million, how they won the World Cup against us, Dhoni will find a way to bring people together and that too in a manner which is nothing about ego and self-promotion.
Hayden adds that though MSD came from a small village, he found a way to rule the hearts of Indian fans especially Chennai fans and this is a big thing. Talking about CSK, Hayden states that MS Dhoni will always remain the iconic leader of the Chennai franchise and everyone loves Thala because he always keeps the team before anyone.
MS Dhoni has been associated with CSK since the inaugural edition of 2008 and nothing is known about his future in the IPL as he hasn’t issued any statement regarding his retirement.
Will MS Dhoni come to play in the IPL 2025 or will he take retirement before that? What do you think?
