The Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan who is famous for his love for perfectionism is also known for his ability to embrace criticism and recently he opened up about his early days in Bollywood.
His cousin and filmmaker Mansoor Khan shared insights into Aamir’s journey, recalling how the young actor wasn’t entirely satisfied with his performance in his debut film “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak”. According to Mansoor, Aamir felt that his co-star Juhi Chawla had delivered a stronger performance, stealing the spotlight from him.
Reflecting on Aamir’s early personality, Mansoor described him as a reserved and shy individual who hardly spoke. Having spent time abroad, Mansoor missed witnessing Aamir’s transformation into the confident star that he is today. He admitted that he once doubted whether Aamir had what it takes to succeed in Indian cinema, which often demands a high level of expressiveness. Looking back at Aamir’s acting in those days, Mansoor confessed that even he cringes at some of his performances.
In a previous conversation, Mansoor had stated that Juhi Chawla outperformed Aamir in their debut film. When asked about it again, he confirmed that Aamir himself acknowledges this. He emphasised that Aamir has evolved significantly as an actor over the years, proving his versatility and talent.
“Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak”, released in 1988 and directed by Mansoor Khan, is now regarded as a Bollywood classic. Starring Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla in their first lead roles, the film tells the poignant love story of Raj and Suman, two young lovers caught in the crossfire of a family feud. With its unforgettable soundtrack composed by Anand-Milind, the movie struck a deep emotional chord with audiences and became a milestone in Hindi cinema.
Currently, Aamir Khan is busy as a producer for “Lahore 1947”, a highly anticipated film featuring Sunny Deol and marking the Bollywood comeback of Preity Zinta. The movie, set against the backdrop of the partition of India and Pakistan, is in its editing phase. Aamir is reportedly eyeing an August 2025 release, believing that the historical significance of the month will add to the film’s impact.
A final decision on the release date will be made once the editing is complete but anticipation is already building for what promises to be an emotional and powerful cinematic experience.
