‘Azhar’, the Tony D’Souza movie seems to have created a lot of controversies already! Now, the movie has irked Ravi Shastri as well. Don’t you want to know the reason? Well, it is obvious! The way Ravi has been portrayed in the movie isn’t acceptable to him.
In the movie, Gautam Gulati plays the character of Ravi Shastri. Only 1st names of cricketers are used in ‘Azhar’! So apart from Azhar, we have Kapil, Manoj, Navjot and Ravi.
If you are a cricket person, you must have understood that the cricketers referred in the movie are Kapil Dev, Manoj Prabhakar, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Ravi Shastri. In the film, Ravi is portrayed as an out-and-out womanizer. He is also shown cheating his wife during the tour wherein she accompanies him. Reports say that Ravi Shastri is very infuriated with this thing shown in the movie.
Ravi has even expressed these concerns to cricket authorities. Not only Ravi, but his entire family is infuriated upon this portrayal. Earlier we have already seen Sangeeta Bijlani and Manoj Prabhakar giving threats of legal action, with regards to their portrayal in the movie.
Why such a portrayal?
Reports say that Azharuddin had issues with Ravi Shastri right from the time of the sting operation. Yes, as per reports, Azharuddin’s name was involved in the match-fixing scandal and this was because Ravi Shastri had stated several things. If reports are to be believed, this is a good way to get back at Ravi.
