Journalist Asked Kohli If Changing Team Every Match Made Them Lose. He Gave An Angry Reply

Yesterday, India lost the 2nd test match against South Africa, as they got all out at 151; they had to make 287 runs, but unfortunately, they couldn’t succeed in the same.

South African bowlers left no stone unturned to stop the Indian batsmen from showing a good performance. It was obvious that after such a performance, journalists were going to bombard the captain with plenty of questions.

During a post match press conference, Kohli spoke about how batsmen let the team down. He said,

“We failed to get a good partnership and take lead. We have let ourselves down. The bowlers have done the job but the batsmen have let the team down. I want to leave everything on the field. That’s the way I play.”

However, there was one question that made Kohli super angry. When journalist asked him if constant team-changing was responsible for this loss, Kohli gave an angry answer.

Journalist asked,

“Talking about you not coming together well makes me think it’s because of the team selection. In 30 Tests you have captained you have changed the line-up in almost each and every Test that you played and I think you would know that to win Test matches you also need a little bit of consistency or rather a lot of consistency and you guys have been lacking that consistency. What would you put that down to? And how would you basically say that you guys will continue changing your team and still expect a different result?”

To which Kohli replied,

“How many Test matches have we won out of 34? How many have we won? How many have we won? 21 wins (20 actually). Two losses. How many draws? Does it matter? Wherever we play we try to do our best. I’m here to answer your questions, not to fight with you”

Cricket is purely a game of luck. If India gets defeated on couple of occasions, it doesn’t mean that they are lacking in something.

Do you agree with Kohli’s answer?
