The Pakistani cricketers are getting slammed and trolled a lot on social media platforms as the Pakistani cricket team got knocked out of the league stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 and what has hurt Pakistani fans more is the manner in which their team has played in this tournament.
First the Pakistani team lost a league match to the debutant USA which can’t be even dreamed of by any Pakistani fan and then Pakistan lost a match to India which was served to them on a plate. The Pakistani team had to chase the target of only 120 runs and even before they started chasing, the former cricketers and Pakistani fans strongly felt that Pakistan would register their second win against India in the T20 World Cup. However, it didn’t happen, Pakistan played the complete 20 overs and still they fell short by 6 runs and that too when they had 3 wickets in hand.
Pakistani fans are quite angry with the Pakistani players, which is quite obvious, and recently the Pakistani cricketer Haris Rauf got engaged in a verbal fight with a Pakistani cricket fan. The incident took place out of the Pakistani team’s hotel in USA and in the video, the fan said something which made Haris Rauf so angry that he was seen charging at the fan despite his wife trying to stop him. Some people who were present there managed to keep Haris Rauf away from the fan who was in blue t-shirt and while leaving the scene, Haris Rauf said to the fan that it is not his India and in response, the fan clearly stated that he is from Pakistan.

The whole Pakistani cricket fraternity came out in support of Haris Rauf because such behaviour from a fan is certainly not acceptable and Muhammad Rizwan also took to X to post a tweet in support of his teammate but his tweet didn’t go well with the Indians as he unnecessarily referred to India in his tweet.
Muhammad Rizwan wrote, “It is irrelevant whether the person who disrespected Haris Rauf was from Pakistan or India. What truly matters is that this individual lacked values and manners. No one has the right to disrespect any human being, especially in front of their family members. Such appalling behaviour must be stopped. Values like tolerance, respect, and compassion are increasingly rare commodities.”

On the other hand, Haris Rauf also posted a statement in which he wrote that he didn’t want to bring this matter on social media but it seems that now it is necessary to talk about the situation. The statement read, “I decided not to bring this on social media, But now that the video is out, I feel it is necessary to address the situation. As public figures, we are open to receiving all kinds of feedback from the public. They are entitled to support or criticize us. Nevertheless, when it comes to my parent and my family, I will not hesitate to respond accordingly. It is important to show respect towards people and their families, irrespective of their professions.”

The chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the incident and he also asked all those individuals to apologise otherwise the board may take the legal route against them.
Well, we can understand that fans are angry but they should have a control on their emotions, agree?
