‘Padmavati’, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie has been in news since a long time now. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, the movie would hit the big screens soon.
However, Bhansali reveals that he had a tough time finding the lead actor for essaying the role of Raja Rawal Ratan Singh, Padmavati’s husband. After too many efforts, Shahid Kapoor has been finalized, but reports say that he wasn’t the 1st choice for makers.
Yes, it was SRK who Sanjay Leela Bhansali preferred for the lead role, but unfortunately the actor refused. SRK chose a very smart way for rejecting the movie. Do you want to know how he did that? Well, he thought of doubling the fees, which obviously SLB couldn’t afford.
We all know that SRK gets huge payments for films but this time, his demand was way too huge, which of course fulfilled his motive of getting rejected.
Media reports say that usually SRK charges around 50 crores for movies, but this time his demand was 90 crores. SLB had no choice but dropping SRK, since the production budget would have increased considerably.
Reports quoted sources as saying
“Shah Rukh who is busy with number of projects doubled his fee to reject the role. Now he is one of the highest paid actors and his demand was too huge for the film and so that didn’t happen”
Now, Shahid who has been finalized for this role is charging only 10 crores from the makers.
There were also some rumors which stated that SLB was not happy casting Ranveer Singh for the role of Allaudin Khilji, since he threw too many tantrums and wanted to replace him with SRK. However, these rumors were rubbished later on.
Although no official announcements have been made by SLB yet, reports say the release is booked for Diwali 2017.
