Ishant Sharma faced disciplinary action following his performance in Gujarat Titans’ recent victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025. The experienced fast bowler was fined 25 percent of his match fee and received a demerit point on his record after violating the league’s code of conduct during the match held on Sunday night.
The incident was categorised under Article 2.2 of the BCCI’s Code of Conduct, which refers to the misuse or abuse of cricket equipment, clothing or fixtures during a game. Ishant accepted the charge and sanction, which falls under Level 1 offence, making the match referee’s decision final and binding.
Although the Titans came out on top with a comprehensive eight-wicket win, it was a tough outing for Ishant on the field. He bowled four overs without taking a wicket and conceded 53 runs, making it a night to forget at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Despite his struggles, Gujarat’s bowling unit delivered a solid performance overall. Mohammed Siraj starred with figures of 4 for 17, while Prasidh Krishna chipped in with two crucial wickets, limiting Hyderabad to a modest 152 for 8.
Captain Shubman Gill ensured that the chase was a smooth one, anchoring the innings with a composed 61 not out from 43 balls. His knock on a slightly challenging pitch ensured Gujarat crossed the finish line in just 16.4 overs.
With this win, the Titans moved up to the second place in the standings, while Sunrisers Hyderabad continued their downward slide, now sitting at the bottom of the table with their fourth consecutive loss.
