The Bangladesh cricket team registered a big win by 89 runs in the match against Afghanistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The match was played yesterday at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore and with this, they have kept their hopes of playing in the Supper Four pretty much alive.
The toss was won by Bangladesh and it chose to bat first, Mehidy Hasan (112 runs, 119 balls, 7 fours & 3 sixes) and Najmal Hossain Shanto (104 runs, 105 balls, 9 fours & 2 sixes) ensured that their team posted a big total of 334/5 on the scoreboard.
This big total was more than enough for the Afghanistan cricket team as they bundled out for 245 runs despite valiant efforts by Ibrahim Zadran (75 runs, 74 balls, 10 fours & 1 six) and Hashamatullah Shahidi (51 runs, 60 balls, 6 fours).
Taskin Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh as he took 4 wickets in his 8.3 overs and gave away 44 runs.
However, other than the exciting and thrilling contest between the two teams, the cricket lovers are also talking about an incident which took place in the 7th over of the Afghanistan innings. The Bangladeshi pacer Hasan Mahmud bowled a delivery to Afghani batter Rahmat Shah who played it back to the bowler, Hasan collected the ball and threw it towards Shah’s end. Though Rahmat Shah saved himself from getting hit, he was quite angry with Hasan Mahmud’s act and he uttered some words but Hasan was in no mood to talk and he returned without saying anything. Rahmat Shah had a little talk to the umpires after which he returned to bat.
