Post demonetization, government had carried out a series of raids all across the country; above all, Income Tax department was successful in curbing crores of black money. But this was not it; there is something more that the government has planned.
Now, the IT department is keeping a close watch on the car sales which were made post the 8th of November. Government has asked car dealers all across India to share details of people who have purchased cars after PM Modi announced demonetization on 8th November.
In fact, IT officials have plans of issuing tax notices to these customers between the 1st and 15th of January. Reports have quoted sources as saying;
“IT officials had given notice to us, seeking details of all customers. They wanted to check our back dated entries. The department feared that there might be customers who had used their black money to purchase cars by November end, but dealers might have shown back dated entry of before November 8.”
Income Tax department has already started receiving customer details from car dealers. Notices were sent out by the IT department to all car dealers in India; now, the officials say that there has been a big rise in car sales in November.
Let us see what action these officials take; as of now, nothing can be said. What do you think would be government’s next time? Share your opinions in our comments section below!
