Indian National team discard, Gautam Gambhir, has yet again landed himself in a spot of bother. Just like his former opening partner Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir too is an active twitterati. On one hand, Sehwag opines his views in a humorous way and on the other, Gambhir has a pinch of aggression in all of his opinions. On the field too, Gambhir had been involved in many spats with opponents for many reasons on different occasions.
On Republic Day, Gambhir, just like a lot of us, was wondering about why radio stations played patriotic songs only on 26th January and 15th August. Gambhir didn’t keep a mum and blasted a few radio stations through his tweet asking them the same question. Gambhir’s question was well received by his fans on twitter but not by Radio Mirchi. Radio Mirchi was quick to respond to Gambhir’s tweet in a rather polite and logical way.
Gambhir through his tweet questioned why patriotism takes a birth only on national holidays and expressed his grief for the same. He was sad that patriotic songs, having equal musical content were mostly ignored by Radio stations and romantic songs, though bad on content, were aired everyday. Radio Mirchi, through their reply, completely explained the whole issue. They explained Gambhir that special occasions deserve special celebrations and thus patriotic songs are preserved to make national holidays special. By playing the songs on national holidays, radio stations celebrated them in their own special way. That was equally logical as we don’t burst crackers everyday either except for Diwali and some other special occasions.
This is how it all started when Gambhir tweeted his question to a few radio stations including Radio Mirchi.
Every Aug 15th or Jan 26th FM stations play patriotic songs. Sadly all dat vanishes next day. Why? @RadioMirchi @LifeCoachSharat @927BIGFM

This is what Radio Mirchi had as a reply to Gambhir’s query!
Some occasions deserve a special celebration, but imagine if your TV only aired Republic Day parade everyday 😊

Gambhir was not going to sit quite either. He blasted another question to Radio Mirchi!
.@RadioMirchi if romantic songs can b played everyday, no harm playing patriotic songs at least once a day! Is it that big a call???
— Gautam Gambhir (Modi Ka Parivar) (@GautamGambhir) January 27, 2017
This time Radio Mirchi came up with something that left Gambhir high and dry.
We asked people what patriotism means to them, we discovered Patriots v/s Indians. Have a look: https://t.co/rEYJcgsf5Q

After that, Gambhir simply told Radio Mirchi that he won’t mind listening patriotic songs all day either.
.@RadioMirchi on ur Republic Day parade tweet. Won't mind seeing respected jawans everyday, every hour, every minute…& in a loop.

Fever FM after watching all this, simply nodded in agreement with Gambhir and assured him that patriotic songs will be played atleast once in a day on their station.
Great suggestion @GautamGambhir . Fever listeners, please share your favourite patriotic songs & we'll add them in our regular playlist.

We hope Gambhir finds such quirky replies for his opponent bowlers as well and makes all his fans happy again. Gambhir has perfectly stood up for many Indian voices on this issue and has certainly got his favourite patriotic songs included in a few radio stations’ regular playlist too. Do let us know what you feel. Patriotic songs should be played everyday or should be preserved as specials for celebrating special occasions?
