There is a long list of people have faced the wrath of online anonymous haters on the social media networks and the list includes many celebrities who have used the online platform to express their opinion which was not accepted to some online bullies and as a result they were trolled. These online bullies can either be ignored or blocked but they are so huge in number that these options seem useless.
However, one person has shown the way to pull out positivity from the well of negativity; we are talking about Dr. Susan Carland.
Dr. Susan Carland is a Muslim lady who is known as an academician and sociologist, she teaches subjects of politics, sociology and gender studies at the Monash University. She has also been named as Australian Muslim of the Year and she is married to Waleed Aly, a Walkley Award-winning journalist.
Susan also gets a lot of Islamophobic messages and she has found a superb way to convert these messages of hate into charity. She donates $1 to UNICEF for every hate message that she receives on twitter and Facebook.
She has donated more than $1000 from this noble campaign, which she has started a few months back.
She said, “I regularly get tweets and Facebook messages from the brave freedom-fighters behind determinedly anonymous accounts telling me that, as a Muslim woman, I love oppression, murder, war and sexism.”
She further adds, “Donating to them every time I was abused felt like tangible good in response to virtual hate.”
She was born into a Christian family but she accepted Islam at the age of 19 due to her personal beliefs, and her belief in Islam is getting stronger day by day despite her inbox getting filled with hatred messages.
