Making a movie is a costly affair nowadays and it is not just because of the shooting taking place at foreign and exotic locations or heavy use of VFX, etc. but the production costs of a film also increase because of the manner in which actors and actresses work at the present time.
If you remember, some time back, during an interview, the famous choreographer and director Farah Khan revealed that nowadays there are some actors and actresses who demand 4 vanity vans and they don’t start working until 4 vanity vans are provided to them. She said that one vanity van is for personal use, the second one is for the staff, the third one is for their gym and the fourth vanity is their food truck.
Farah Khan has once again talked about the increasing production costs and this time, it is because of entourage (team) of actors and actresses. She says that the cost of entourage is going up in a significant manner as nowadays an actress comes with 9 people and an actor comes with 8 people. Farah Khan refers to it as wastage of resources as this cost is not seen in a movie but it increases the production costs and it is not a good thing for the producer.
When Farah is asked about the changes that have taken place in the industry over the years, she says that things have become more structured and disciplined but inter-personal relations have gone for a toss. She said that earlier the industry used to work on relationship so if she needed anything, she used to call the actor directly but now she needs to call the sub-manager, then the manager and then the agency because of which the inter-personal relations have suffered a lot.
Well, adequate steps should be taken in regard to solving the entourage problem, what do you say?
