The famous actor Emraan Hashmi has a reputation of a serial kisser and there was a time when his presence in the movie guaranteed intimate and kissing scenes. The “Jannat” actor doesn’t hold the audiences responsible for his image of serial kisser as he accepted in a recent podcast that for 7-8 years, producers and he himself was selling this image to the audiences.
He also says that every actor gets patented for one thing, for example Salman is patented for removing shirt, Anil Kapoor is patented with Jhakaas, Shah Rukh Khan is patented with his open arms pose and in the same manner, Emraan Hashmi is patented with serial kissing.
He said, “I don’t blame the audiences. A large part of my career until 2009, 7-8 saal tak, woh image tha mera jo producers sell kar rahe the. Mai khud sell kar raha tha (A large part of my career till 2009, for 7-8 years, it was my image that the producers were selling. I was selling it myself).”
He further said, “I think bahot saare artists ke sath ek patent cheez ho jaati hai, ek image set ho jaata hai, aur wo unka saath nahin chodhta hai (I think that with many artists one thing becomes patented, an image is set, and it doesn’t leave them).”
Talking about the kissing scenes in “Murder”, Emraan Hashmi said that it was the sticking point of Bollywood as it was the first time that audiences were seeing such kissing scenes and unapologetic rebellious characters.
Emraan Hashmi is gearing up for the second season of Showtime which is releasing on 12 July and when he was asked about the positive reactions of the audiences that the first part got, he said, “What people reacted to was that it was a breezy, entertaining and fun take on our industry. We sprinkled a lot of truths about it in a very interesting way. I would want to give credit to the writers for that. It captured the idiosyncrasies of producers and stars in an industry where relationships are fickle, transient and fleeting and where there’s no permanence of success and failure and stocks go up and down.”
