The Board of Control for Cricket in India is looking for a new head coach for the Indian cricket team as Rahul Dravid has made it clear that he is not interested in reapplying for the job of the head coach.
Rahul Dravid’s tenure ended with the ODI World Cup 2023 but he agreed to continue till the end of the T20 World Cup 2024 on the board’s insistence. Currently the Indian cricket team is in New York for taking part in the T20 World Cup 2024 and during a press conference when the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was asked about Dravid’s farewell and whether he asked Rahul Dravid to continue further, Hitman said that he tried to convince Rahul Dravid to stay but he has many other things to look after. Rohit added that he has personally enjoyed his time with Rahul Dravid and he is sure that every player will say the same because it has been great working with him.
The emotional Indian skipper said that Rahul Dravid was his first international captain under whom he made his debut in Ireland and Dravid is certainly a role model for all of them. Rohit Sharma further stated that they all have watched him play while growing up and they know what he has achieved in his career as a cricketer and he has certainly done a lot for the team over the years. As per Rohit, Rahul Dravid is known for bringing the team out from the difficult situations as this is what he has done a lot in his career.
Rohit Sharma said that Dravid has been a person who has great determination and this is what the skipper wants to learn from the head coach. Sharma referred to Dravid’s tenure as fruitful as he said that other than the silver trophy, the Indian team won the other major tournaments and series and he enjoyed every moment working with him.
As of now, Gautam Gambhir is being called the frontrunner but it is even not clear whether he has applied or not and the former Indian cricketer has also refrained from speaking on this matter.
