Earlier in this year, Salman Khan starrer Sultan had become a big hit at the Box Office. It collected a total of Rs 300.45 crores and was declared at the Blockbuster of 2016. However, at the year end, Aamir came up with a wonderful sports biopic Dangal and reversed the game.
This was an interesting battle between the duo and every day, a nail-biting situation was created. On the other hand, Aamir Khan had to compete with its own movie “PK” which was the highest grosser of 2014 and also with Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the highest grosser of 2015.
Apart from being the highest grosser of 2016, Dangal broke one more record of being the fastest Bollywood movie to earn 300 crores. Have a look at the chart below.
Days taken for 300 crores club!
Dangal was a clear winner as Bajrangi Bhaijaan took 20 days to earn 321 crores and Sultan took 35 days for reaching 300.45 crores. PK was holding the record of the fastest movie to reach 300 crores club i.e. in 17 days, but Dangal left no stone unturned in beating it. It showed magic in 13 days itself.
13 days collection!
Even Dangal’s 13 day total was miraculous; other movies couldn’t even cross Rs 275 crores at the end of 13 days, but Dangal once again managed to sail smoothly.
Monday collections!
With regards to the Monday collections, Dangal falls 2nd in the list with 25.69 crores and couldn’t beat Bajrangi Bhaijaan which had earned 27.05 crores. PK stands 3rd with 21.22 crores with and Sultan stands last with 15.54 crores.
Highest first weekend collections!
Dangal emerged as a clear winner with 106.95 crores, beating Sultan (105.34 crores), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (102.6 crores) and PK (95.21 crores)
In short we can say that Dangal has ruled the Box Office and holds the maximum records. We definitely look forward to more movies like these.
