Cricket is the game of uncertainties and there have been numerous instances in which the viewers have been left amazed, surprised or even shocked.
Recently, an incident took place which left the cricketers and fans in a state of shock and disbelief as the ball hit the stumps, the middle stump was knocked back but still the batter was not-out. Well, let us tell you in a little detail about the incident that happened during a match which was played between Western Districts and Ginninderra.
The match was being played under ACT Premier Cricket 3rd Grade in Australia. During the innings of Ginninderra, the batter Matthew Bosustow failed to play the ball bowled by Andy Reynolds of Western Districts and the ball knocked back the middle stump but Matthew was given not out because both the bails held tightly on the off and leg-stumps.
Though Matthew Bosustow started walking back to the pavilion and team of the Western Districts started celebrating, Matthew was called back when it was realized that the bails were intact.
As per the rules of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the wicket is considered taken only when at least one bail is completely removed from the stumps or one of the stumps is completely removed from the ground.
The official X handle of Cricket ACT posted the photo of the weird incident with the caption,
“Things you don’t see every day…
Explain this one from a Ginninderra-Wests game for us, cricket fans – how was this possible?
Physics? Chewing Gum? Swollen timber in all the rain?” 🤔

The skipper of Western Districts, Sam Wightman said that initially they all were unhappy as the batter walked back to bat but later on, they saw the funny side of the incident. He said that what made him happier was that they soon dismissed the batter and he had to walk back again.
