Families which have marriages are very badly affected from the demonetization policy. The November, December months are considered auspicious, since the lagan period has started. While this is the time when many marriages take place, but due to demonetization hundreds of marriages have been put off.
For marriages, people have withdrawn cash from their bank accounts, they took a loan or arranged cash from various other means. But after the announcement of the cash replacement scheme, people are facing a great difficulty in exchanging cash.
However, the government provided a big relief to the families who have weddings. Families can withdraw cash up to Rs 2.5 lakh for marriage ceremonies. But the Modi government has imposed some stiff conditions on the withdrawal from the banks.
People can withdraw cash amount only from the credit balance as on November 8. The applicant must provide the names of bride and groom, with their identity proofs. Payment from the cash can only be made to those people who don’t have bank accounts. And cash can be withdrawn only if the date of marriage is on or before 30 December. Moreover, affidavit has to be obtained from the person receiving cash! Impossible terms!
Take a look at what a common man has to say about the relief provided by the Modi government.
