Since the time it was announced that Comedy Nights With Kapil is going to end, there were growing differences between Kapil Sharma and his team and Colors Channel. First, they took the decision of bringing in a new show Comedy Nights Bachao along with this show and then after the shoot of the last episode was done, it wasn’t aired on time. The channel took the decision of airing it a week later, which further sparked this controversy.
Further, Kapil was replaced by Krushna Abhishek as a new host on a show named Comedy Nights Live. He tried hard to become popular, but he and his team failed and there was a huge drop in TRPs. Kapil had to hear a lot from Bharti Singh, Krushna and Raj Nayak, the CEO of colors, but he remained silent. Instead, a severe blow was given to them with the announcement of his new show Comedy Style, to be telecast on the same time as Krushna’s but on a rival channel.
Now that they both have entered the competition, it would be interesting to see who wins. But the channel has done something bad which has further sparked their fight. Sunil Grover and Ali Asgar, who played Gutthi and Dadi on Kapil’s show have got a legal notice from the channel. This is because they both were going to perform for Da-Bang, a live show in Surat on the 19th of February.
The show would be headlined by Jacqueline Fernandez and Salman Khan. The confusion was because the producers wanted Sunil and Ali to perform in CNWK avatars. Permission was not taken from the channel and when it reached Raj Nayak, he took the decision of sending a legal notice.
As per the notice, Sunil or Ali aren’t allowed to perform as Gutthi or Dadi anywhere, whether or not, the outings are telecast on TV or not. As per the notice, Ali cannot even give his performance as an old lady with a jooda or grey hair and Sunil is banned from wearing ribbons. Even a slight reflection of CNWK characters would lead to copyright infringement.
Even though Raj Nayak claims that soon things might be better, we don’t see anything anymore.
