People are losing patience and temperament at a very high rate and celebrities are no exception to it. Nowadays, committing suicide is just like any other simple activity and surprisingly, the person who plans to commit suicide makes an advance announcement of the same as well as arranges for the live telecast of the act on social media.
On Wednesday, April 5, the winner of Big Boss Kannada season 4, M Pratham, tried to take his life because he was not happy with the fact that his friend from the same industry made some inappropriate comments about him on social media and he was very disturbed because of it.
Here is the live video in which you can hear him telling that the reason behind this serious step is the misunderstanding that has taken place between him and Lokesh, his friend and director.

Here’s what Pratham said,
“I am disturbed a lot due to harassment from Lokesh. I am not able to bear the torture of Lokesh. I am yet to receive prize amount from the TV channel but many people are asking me when I am planning to distribute that money to the needy people.”
He also says that he has just received the cheque and showed it along with passbooks and also alleged that Lokesh is trying to tarnish his image. According to him,
“Anything that I do is being wrongly projected. I cannot take it anymore. This will be my final Facebook Live video and sorry If I have hurt anyone.”
He also adds that his suicide will be a lesson for those who insult and abuse others on social media, like he has suffered at the hands of Lokesh. On the other hand, Lokesh claimed that Pratham manhandled him during a heated debate before whatever happened in public. A police complaint has also been filed by Lokesh against Pratham alleging that the actor has pushed and attacked him.
Pratham also said this in the live video,
“They are claiming that I demanded Rs 60,000 to attend an event organised by an orphanage, which is not true. Even a status updated on my Facebook page is being interpreted in a wrong way. I never imagined committing suicide in my life, but these people are not letting me lead a peaceful life. At least let my death become a lesson for you all.”
Pratham has signed few Kannada movies after winning Bigg Boss Kannada 4 three months back. He was admitted in a hospital in Nagarabhavi by his friends.
Coming back to the suicide attempt of Pratham, as per the police, the sleeping pills that he took were not enough to kill him and his condition is stable now. Police may book him under IPC Section 309 for attempted suicide; however, the government has passed the Mental Healthcare bill which has brought attempted suicide out of the category of crime but it still needs to become a law as President’s assent is required.
Some are supporting Pratham and having sympathy with him but there are few who feel that it is just a publicity stunt as Niranjan Deshpande, co-contestant of Pratham in BB4, said
“We all knew he did a lot of drama in the (Bigg Boss) house, but didn’t know he would stoop so low. Anyone who commits suicide, will not announce it to the whole world.”
Another co-contestant Bhuvan Pona said,
“Pratham will do anything for publicity, but I don’t know if this act was also for publicity. If he is done this to gain attention, it’s wrong.”
