India scripted history yesterday as Chandrayaan-3 did a soft landing on the Moon and India joined the elite club by becoming the fourth country to land on the Moon and the first one to land on the South Pole of the Moon. India and ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) tasted success after a big setback that they faced in 2019 as Chandrayaan-2 got destroyed just some time before landing on the Moon.
Soon the social media networks were flooded with reactions and congratulatory wishes from all across the world. While many Bollywood celebrities congratulated ISRO, scientists and the country on this proud moment, there were some people from the movie industry who got busy in registering titles for making a movie on India’s Moon mission.
The offices of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), Producers Guild of India, and Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC) received many applications for registering a film title which is related to Chandrayaan-3. An official from IMPPA reveals that they have received many applications and they will be reviewing them next week. The official states that they will be very careful while reviewing these applications because at the time of Pulwama attack also, they got 30-40 applications but very few were genuine.
Bollywood producers like to make movies on true events especially on those which have patriotic feeling attached to them as it increases chances of the success of the film but many times such movies have been slammed as they have been made without proper research.
The trade analyst Taran Adarsh says that he is not at all surprised with the news of producers wanting to register titles of movies related to Chandrayaan-3 because in the past as well, such movies have tasted success at the box-office. Taran Adarsh gives the example of “Mission Mangal”, “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect” and few others and says that he is pretty sure someone will definitely come out and announce making a movie on this topic but he should properly research the topic before making the film.
