We hear of many cases where men harass women, but in Bengaluru, it is just the opposite. Bengaluru boys, it’s time to be very careful, especially while travelling alone. There are many reports about a gang of lady robbers prowling in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar area, whose main aim is to blackmail men and extort money from them. All they do is threaten men in the name of “Molestation case” and then, try to shell out money from them. Victims who don’t want to fall in the trap of such cases, have no option but to give in to their demands. Want to know some more details?

Today, we will narrate to you the incident of a businessman, Gowda, who fell victim to this gang, while he was travelling alone to Indiranagar 12th Main; this was after he dropped his friends at Domlur and JB Nagar, while returning from a wedding.
When his car stopped at the signal, a woman came there, gave him a sweet smile and made some obscene gestures at him. This made him bit uncomfortable, but he had no clue as to what’s happening. As soon as he tried to figure out what’s wrong, another woman came there and forcefully got into the car.
Gowda got very frustrated and asked her to get out right away, but instead of going, she forcefully hugged him and demanded a kiss. Gowda threatened the woman and told her that he’ll call the police, following which she got down at Vth Main. However, this was not the end; after coming home, Gowda realized that his 50 gm gold chain was missing. The woman had smartly robbed him! The incident happened at around 12.20 am and the entire process took just 2 minutes.
His brother came to the junction to trace the woman, but unfortunately, she had vanished till then.
When Gowda lodged a complaint with Indiranagar police station, he realized that he was not the only one to be harassed; many such cases were reported in last few days. Although the police officials checked the CCTV footage in nearby restaurants and pubs, the women couldn’t be traced down.
Similar incident with Gowda’s friend too!
Gowda was shocked to know that one of his friends too, had a similar experience in Ulsoor. In his friend’s case, a woman forcefully got into the car and threatened to scream if he didn’t give his wallet. As soon as he started giving money from the wallet, the woman snatched it and ran away. She took away his mobile phone too.
One more disgusting incident!
Thomas KS, a retired DRDO staffer shared his incident too; it happened in the morning, when he was out for a walk in a park in New Thippasandra. It seems the woman had kept a watch on him, due to which things became easier. Yes, Thomas always comes to the park after dropping his grandson in the pre-school. A woman came to him with a helmet on, and asked him to “Identify” her.
Thinking she would be someone whom he knows, Thomas asked her to take her helmet off. In no time, the woman started screaming and asked Thomas why he was staring at her. Thomas who was stunned, asked her why is she behaving this way; the woman said that she will keep quiet only if he hands over some gold and cash. Thomas had no option but to give his gold ring and Rs 3000; he too has lodged a complaint with the police.
Police officials say,
“We have received a few complaints of men falling victims to such gangs. The victims are targeted at night. We suspect there could more such cases than the complaints as the victims may have refrained from complaining due to social stigma.”
He added,
“We are keeping a close watch on women found moving suspiciously at night. Women police personnel have been instructed to keep an eye out for them.”
