FSDA officials have come across couple of 1kg packs of Patanjali Ayurveda manufactured Aawla Murabba that had manufacturing date mentioned as 20th of October 2016 and expiry date as 19th of October 2017. Interestingly, this Murabba was available in the market for sale. This sample was taken from a Kalyanpur Ring Road’s retail shop.
Officials of FSDA state that it doesn’t qualify as a food product, since it is an Ayurvedic medicine. For ascertaining the quality, they collected samples from various shops of the city. The samples included turmeric powder, ghee and Soan Paapdi.
Drug Inspector, Dr. Shiv Kumar Verma stated that with such wrong information on the product, the provisions of the Drug & Cosmetic Act are violated. Further, a sealed sample of the same is sent to the lab for testing. They have also sent this information to director of Ayurvedic services, Uttarakhand.
