Facebook is one of the most popular social media platforms used by a large number of people all across the world. On one hand, where some people have used it for wrong purposes like cheating, there are few good Samaritans too who have proved that nothing is good or bad and it’s totally up to us how we use it! True indeed, isn’t it?
What if we say that a man saved life of a Facebook friend and even more surprisingly, he never met him before! Yes, it is the story of a Dhaba owner Poganti Rambabu who was going to Vishakapatnam via car on 28th July. In the meantime, he made up mind of meeting EVV Satyanarayana, a Facebook friend living in Rajamandalam village and whom he did not meet earlier ever.
It was in March 2016 that Satyanarayana began a group called “Godarolla Kitakitalu” on Facebook and Rambabu was one of its members. They both were quite active and used to exchange messages often on “Godarolla Kitakitalu”.
Satyanarayana got a call from Rambabu who asked him for a meeting prior to reaching Rajamandalam; however, the two could not meet as Rambabu was getting late. Nevertheless, Rambabu’s car met a fatal accident near Rajahmundry in which he got serious head injuries and as Satyanarayana’s number was the last dialed one in his call list, he called him in the injured condition.
In the words of Satyanarayana, “I got a call from Rambabu at 12.10am saying he had met with an accident and immediately the call got cut. I again got a call from police who were patrolling in the area. They informed me that Rambabu was in a critical condition and was bleeding severely.”
Satyanarayana hurried to the accident location and took Rambabu to a govt hospital but doctors could not control bleeding. It was about 6 months ago that Rambabu underwent a heart surgery and a stent was implanted in his heart due to which doctors were not succeeding in stopping the bleeding.
After attempting for several times, they controlled the bleeding and insisted Satyanarayana on shifting the patient to some other hospital so that he can be treated better. He shifted him to Rajahmundry’s Bollineni hospital where Rambabu got 50 stitches along with head injury treatment.
Satyanarayana was with him the whole night and when his condition started improving, he called his family members the next morning to inform them about what happened. In his words, “I didn’t want to bother his family members at midnight. I waited till morning, and after Rambabu’s condition started to improve, I called and informed his family members at five in the morning.”
His family came at about 10 and took him to another hospital which is close to their village in Vijayawada.
This is what Rambabu said after recovering, “If Satyanarayana hadn’t come to my rescue, I would have been lying on the road in a place where I don’t know anyone. He gave me a second life.”
“A couple of my Facebook friends came to the hospital only to see me. We all met at the hospital for the first time,” Rambabu shared his happiness.
Talking about the group Satyanarayana started on Facebook, he said, “I get messages from our members living in USA, Saudi. They say our posts make them feel like they are at home.”
In such an era when people are more concerned with themselves only and don’t even bother about their family members, it’s indeed creditable on the part of Satyanarayana that he came for the rescue of Rambabu who was just a Facebook friend whom he never met in person!
Salute to this man and his friendship (y)
