Making movies on the biopics of sportspersons is becoming a trend after the huge success of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Mary Kom. What’s more, the recent success of Sultan has also proved that audiences love films which are related to sports. Movie buffs are already looking forward impatiently to the release of Aamir Khan’s Dangal which is the story of wrestler Mahavir Phogat and his daughters.
And now actor Akshay Kumar is coming up with a flick based on the biopic of a legendary Indian hockey player. No, it is not about the “Wizard of Hockey” Major Dhyan Chand!
Just recently, Akshay Kumar took to Twitter to share the first poster of his upcoming movie which has been named as “Gold” and will be released on 15th August, 2018.

“Gold” will be directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
Not much is known about the film but if we go by the poster it circles around the first-ever gold won in Olympics by India as a free nation.
In a report published in DNA, it is being said that Akshay will be portraying the role of legendary hockey player Balbir Singh in the flick.
Balbir Singh didn’t get much fame in comparison to Dhyan Chand but he was also a part of the team which took part in 1948 Olympics and won the gold. In next Olympics which took place in 1952, he was the vice-captain of the team while in 1956, he was the captain of the team. India won gold in 1952 as well as in 1956.
Akshay Kumar has proved his acting skills many times but it will be interesting to see him playing the role of a hockey player. What do you say? Share your views in the comments section below.
