A teacher from Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly blackmailing and extorting money from the father of one of her students, with whom she had been involved in a personal relationship.
Sridevi Rudagi, aged 25, along with two accomplices, Ganesh Kale and Sagar, was taken into custody for allegedly coercing the victim into paying Rs 4 lakh and later threatening him with personal photos and videos to demand more money.
The victim, a trader residing with his wife and three daughters, had admitted his five years old child to the school in 2023, during which he came into contact with Sridevi Rudagi. Over time, their communication extended beyond school matters, leading to frequent exchanges of messages and video calls. Eventually, their meetings became personal, which Sridevi allegedly leveraged to extort money from him.
Initially, she managed to obtain Rs 4 lakh from the victim. However, in January, she escalated her demands, insisting on an additional Rs 15 lakh. Faced with continued pressure, the victim decided to relocate his family to Gujarat. When he visited the school to collect his child’s Transfer Certificate, he was confronted by the accused who showed him private photographs and videos, further demanding Rs 20 lakh.
Feeling trapped, the victim transferred Rs 1.9 lakh but continued to face relentless demands for more money. When the pressure became unbearable, he sought help from the police, leading to the arrest of the three accused.

The individuals involved have since been placed in judicial custody for 14 days as the investigation continues.
