Makers of ‘Udta Punjab’ have received orders from CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) to remove Punjab state references from the movie along with those 89 cuts. Yes, the film is set up in Punjab and revolves around the issue of drug abuse in the state.
However, this decision has received lot of criticism on social media, especially on Twitter. Fans were not quite happy when CBFC gave instructions of setting up the movie in some ‘fictional place’. Anurag Kashyap, the producer is here venting out his anger on Twitter.
See what he tweeted!
There is no film more honest than UDTA PUNJAB .. And any person or party opposing it is actually GUILTY of promoting drugs

Then he left another tweet comparing Korea to India’s current situation.
I always wondered what it felt like to live in North Korea .. Ab to plane pakadney ki bhi zaroorat nahin..

One more on North Korea!
It's my fight Vs a dictatorial man sitting there operating like an oligarch in his constituency of censor board, that's my North Korea

This wasn’t enough! He compared it with Franz Kafka’s trial too!
Joseph Ka Mukadama was a Hindi play adaptation of which famous Czech novel?? We are back there
— Anurag Kashyap (@anuragkashyap72) June 6, 2016
Then he says there is no place for political parties in his battle!
I request Congress, AAP and other political parties to stay out of my battle. It's my Rights vs the Censorship. I speak only on my behalf

While people are leaving angry tweets, Anurag Kashyap knows that the situation can be handled pretty well with sarcasm. He is expert in dealing with Censor Board problems and we hope that this time too he wins. Moreover, he even tagged PM Modi in his tweets! Check Out!

Ashoke Pandit, the CFBC member stated that
“I question the intelligence of the committee which has given this judgement of removing the word ‘Punjab’ from #UdtaPunjab. #CBFC. Just wondering what were to happen if these films would release now : #MrIndia, #MumbaiMeriJaan, #DilliKaThug. #UdtaPunjab #CBFC. Going by Nihalani’s logic, issue based classics wud’ve nvr released: #SalamBombay (Prostitution),#Bombay (Riots),#NewDelhiTimes (Corruption).”
Let us see what decision the board takes!
