A day after the announcement of IIT JEE results, seventeen year old IIT aspirant from Rajasthan’s Kota area committed suicide as she jumped off from her building.
Identified as Kriti Tiwari, the resident of Ghaziabad took this step after clearing JEE. She had scored 144 and the cut-off was 100 for IIT. Police stated that Kriti wasn’t satisfied with the result as she didn’t desire to be an engineer.
Her dream was to become an astrophysicist!
Harshit Bharati, SHO Jawahar Nagar stated that Kriti had clearly mentioned in the note that she didn’t desire to become an engineer, instead, she wished to go for Bachelor of Science since she dreamt of becoming an astrophysicist. This is really strange because even after graduation from IIT, one can become an astrophysicist.
Main cause of Suicide!
SS Godara, Kota SP stated that mainly the cause of suicide is either disinterest in engineering or depression. In that suicide note, there was a clear mention that her mom had admitted her to science stream but she didn’t find interest in these subjects such as Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics.
Kriti had moved to Kota 2 years back for IIT coaching and 1 of her parents would stay with her throughout. Her mother was at home in Ghaziabad and father, who stayed with her, was at gym that time.
