As of now, Sachin Tendulkar might be the richest cricketer all across the globe, but when he was 12, he had no money for returning home after a tour with Mumbai Under-15 team.
Sachin recounts the episode!
He recalls that he was just a 12 year old and was selected for playing in the Under-15 team for Mumbai. He was quite excited and and he didn’t forget to carry extra money with him. They went to Pune for playing 3 matches and it started raining heavily over there. He hoped that the rain would stop and they will get to play some cricket. When his turn came, he was run out on 4. That time, he was just 12 and could hardly run at a decent pace. He was quite disappointed and came out crying to the dress room.
He spent everything!
Since it had rained, there was nothing for doing whole day and so they went for a movie, ate and spent everything. When he came back by train to Mumbai, he didn’t have anything. He was carrying 2 big bags and got down at Dadar station. From there, he had to walk up to Shivaji Park.
The period wasn’t quite tech friendly!
Sachin stated that if the bank would have been quite customer-friendly as it is now, this problem wouldn’t have to be faced. He also states that if he would have had a phone in his hand, he could have just sent an SMS to his dad and someone or the other would have transferred the money, thus allowing Sachin to travel by a cab.
